Summary
Metadata scans run in your browser. We only receive an image if you click Analyze Image Location for AI visual recognition.
Local EXIF Scans
When you upload a photo for GPS metadata scanning, the browser reads the file locally. The image file, EXIF tags, camera model, timestamp, and GPS coordinates are not uploaded to our server for the free metadata scan.
The Strip EXIF feature also runs locally by redrawing the image through your browser canvas and downloading a clean copy.
AI Visual Recognition
If a photo has no GPS metadata, you can choose AI recognition. When you click Analyze, the image is sent over HTTPS to our serverless API and then to our configured AI provider to estimate a landmark, city, or place.
- AI recognition is opt-in and never starts automatically.
- We do not sell uploaded images or recognition results.
- We do not use your images to train our own models.
- Temporary processing data is deleted within 24 hours where technically available.
Payments
Payments are processed by Creem. We do not store full card numbers. To provide paid access, we may store your email address, product ID, purchase status, and usage counters.
Server Logs And Maps
Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep basic request logs such as IP address, browser user agent, request time, route, and error status for security and reliability.
If GPS coordinates are shown on a map, map tile and reverse-geocoding services may receive coordinate-based requests. They do not receive your original image from us.
Your Choices
You can use local EXIF scanning without an account. You can avoid AI recognition by not clicking Analyze. For payment, account, access, or deletion requests, contact privacy@imagegpslocationfinder.com.
